Has a great orange, lemon zesty note but smells like the orange Delsym cough medicine. That you would have as a kid and personally that medicines taste traumatized me. And the smell is kind of has a medicine smell to it and if you’ve had a bad experience with Delsym it might not be something you would appreciate ever smelling again. But I do love this brand and their candles are of amazing quality and smell: but for me this just failed to hit the mark.
For those who choose to practice aroma therapy, I’d say this is a good option.
Shaped like a typical Vicks inhaler, this allows you to catch a whiff of menthol and citrus wherever you are. The aroma is pleasant, with significantly less menthol, which is typically found in these types of inhalers. Other inhalers have much more menthol and are used to clear your nasal passages when you are clogged. This is designed to improve your airflow and provide a pleasant experience, which I believe it does, and does so in a pleasant manner.
I don’t really feel any health benefits, but again, if you regularly choose aromatherapy for relief, you should like this.
Living in a latino household, the smell of menthol is not uncommon. Though I will say menthol doesn’t combined the best with some other household smells, so I’m always on the lookout for an alternative to pure menthol cream. This smells amazing. The pomelo and mint take the edge of the menthol. It smells fresh without the full burn, opens the air ways. We’ll still have Mentol Chino for those particularly rough allergy or illness nights, but this will be my pocket go to rather than getting the travel size menthol out of my wife’s purse. I hope the scent doesn’t change after a week, or run out without me opening the tube again. I’ll update you if that happens, but I’m hopefully it won’t.
When I saw this pop up, I admit I got it simply because it looked odd to me and I had no idea what the point of this was, and the promo images are even stranger. I remember vicks nasal sticks when I was a kid and had a cold, but this is marketed in a way that suggests recreational use?
It does smell of menthol/mint with citrus as advertised, and I like that fine for what it is- it burns its way through my nose which gives the impression it opened up airways, but in reality I’m as stuffy as before. I can understand the notion that it can jolt you awake for a moment, though, so maybe there is some aromatherapy value in that.
Love
I ordered this nasal inhaler as a “pick me up” when I start getting afternoon crashes at work. I’ve used similar products before that advertise their nasal sticks as having medication in them or having some kind of ingredients that are beneficial for your health. This one doesn’t really state that… It does state that this is supposed to provide calm and clarity to your day and open up your airways.
With that being said, I’ll describe my experience with the product so far…
The stick is about the size of your average chap stick container. It’s conveniently sized to where you can take it anywhere. It will easily fit in your pocket, purse, car glovebox, desk drawer, etc. Which is nice. The tube is resealable so you can use this inhaler over and over again until it dries out. As far as the smell goes, I actually really like the aroma! It smells strongly like citrus with a hint of menthol. Usually the menthol smell overpowers any other smells in products like this, but that’s not the case with this one which is nice. I did notice that my airways open up briefly when I use the inhaler and it does give me that “pick me up” that I was looking for.
I think that this product smells nicely and it wakes me up when I need it to, but my main question is “why does this product exist in in the first place?” I understand that it opens your airways and what not but is there any other reason to use this? There’s no real beneficial health reasons to buy this. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I don’t really see a big reason for this to exist beyond someone just wanting to smell a citrus smell every once in awhile when they feel sleepy or lazy. The product did do what it was advertised to do so I’m rating it 5 stars.
I know a guy who uses these things and swears by them. If you ask him, a couple of sniffs and you’re going to be instantly refreshed and breathing more freely. Sure, that sounds appealing, right? Now, aromatherapy is a real thing, and different essential oils can have different effects. We already know citrus is energizing, and anyone who has ever had a grandmother knows menthol helps you breathe. So what’s the deal with this stick?
First of all, the scent is… a lot. It kinda smells like my cough drops taste, a sweet menthol. If I didn’t know there were notes of pomelo, I’m not sure I’d be able to identify this as citrus. The menthol/mint notes are there, but this really does smell a lot like honey lemon cough drops. So, does it work at least?
Eh, I don’t know. I’ve kept this stick on my desk for the last week and have picked it up and sniffed it numerous times. Afternoon slump? Feeling distracted? Give it a sniff. I can’t say I noticed any difference in my level of alertness or ability to focus. It also doesn’t open up my sinuses as far as I can tell.
As with all things in life, not everyone is going to like the same things. Maybe this is just a preference situation and it will work better for you.
