This little machine is surprisingly effective at keeping my retainers and jewelry spotless. It doesn’t make much noise, and the LED light is a cool touch. My only complaint is that the interior is a bit small, so bigger items won’t fit well. But for daily cleaning of dental items or earrings, it’s clutch.
This Ultrasonic Retainer Cleaner easily cleans your retainer overnight or when you’re not wearing them for an extended period of time (perhaps during work hours when you have multiple times where you need to eat and drink). You can simply just use water (I like to use denture cleaner every other day) and simply fill until the liquid covers the retainer, then plug it in, and tap the “On” button. There’s no guessing or settings, it just runs for 3 minutes after you plug it in and turn in on, so if they’re extra gunky, you might need to run it a second time. If you need to wear a retainer for long periods of time, this can be used during meal breaks or if you only need to wear them for a few hours, I suggest running it once before you wear the retainer and once after you finish wearing them before you store them away for the day. It’s highly portable and uses a USB-C port, so you can even use your phone’s charger to power it when you need to use it while you’re on the go!
This ultrasonic pod works well. It comes with a USB-C to wall charging cord, so it actually plugs in.
The overall unit is rather compact. It is a small cylinder, and the well which holds water and the item is rather shallow. At first glance I wasn;t certain if it would fit my invisalign style retainers. It does fit them by stacking them on top of one another with some overlap.
This is pretty much a plug and play unit. Plug it in, hit the power button, and it does its job. There is no way to vary the length of time or the power level.
My retainers came out looking cleaner. They would work even better had I used a clenaing tablet. I then decided to go ahead and try it with my wedding ring. The unit doesn”t mention cleaning jewelry, but i am all for multi-use tools. If I could replace my current sonicator with a more compact model, I would do that.
My ring definitely sparkled more when it came out, but I could still see some dirt around the metal. This definitely does not replace my regular sonicator for all uses, so I will probably give it to one of the kids.
Overall, I think there are better units out there. My workhouse sonicator, while bigger, has many more functions, does a better job of cleaning, and was not nearly as expensive. I can’t imagine paying $50 for this unit.

The Universal Whale Ultrasonic Pod is an effective ultrasonic cleaner for small items. The listing focuses on dental appliances, but my use case is for small jewelry, which it is equally well suited for.
The ultrasonic cleaner is simple to use with a single button for operation. It does have a duty cycle – it suggests in the manual waiting 5 minutes between cleaning cycles. I did find out through testing that running it back to back generates a bit of heat which warms the water in the cleaning cup. I would follow the directions and wait a bit between cycles if running it multiple times in a row.
The pod has a clean design – a white plastic exterior and lid and a seamless stainless steel cup for cleaning. The power supply uses a USB-C receptacle but it is not USB powered – the power supply is 12V 1.5A. It holds not quite a half cup of water (the manual references a maximum fill level but I don’t see a mark to indicate it, so I just winged it). And the cup is large enough to accommodate dentures, bracelets, or several rings, earrings, or other jewelry. Operation is simple – there is one button to press, and it will turn on and run a 3 minute cleaning cycle and then shut itself off.
The cleaning power is immediate – when you start the cleaner with an item in it you can immediately see a cloud of dirt leave the item and dissipate through the water. It is simple and straightforward to use.
I’m not sure what is AI powered about it or why that is touted in the listing, but I suppose it’s a very popular concept these days. It seems to be just a timer that will run for three minutes and shut off. I’m not going to detractit for hype.
At the listed price of $50 it may be at the high side of the market. It seems to be appropriately built to last, though, and provides an easy way to clean quicker and better than manual cleaning.
This does not actually clean anything. Water vibrates but it is not strong enough to clean the retainers. It doesn’t create the vibration evenly throughout the pod so that if you put the retainer it would clean it. My son was afraid to tell me and now the return window expired!! Ugh!!
I’m a dental health provider and I must say I was very impressed with how well this worked getting some mild buildup off of my nightguard. I used Luke warm water and one retainer bright tablet and let it run a few cycles. Worked like a charm!
